You must take the constant abuse, fear for your safety night and day, endure the trauma, be cut off from all friends and family, and never be allowed to leave your house. You must do this day after day and year after year with no end in sight, because this kind of violence is acceptable by those who do not have to endure it.

Innovative Housing Development for Adults with I/DD Opens in Santa Cruz

A new housing development designed for the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities has opened in Santa Cruz, California. A group of families developed the project which will house about 16 residents with I/DDs such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome, as well as several families, students, and staff.
