The National Council on Severe Autism pursues recognition, policy, and solutions for the surging population of individuals, families, and caregivers affected by severe forms of autism and related disorders.
NCSA is a volunteer-led organization. Every role on this page is unpaid and fully remote. Applicants must be 18 or older and live in the United States.
This is a screening application. Members of NCSA's executive committee review every submission. If your experience fits a current need, we will contact you to schedule an interview.
Before you apply, read NCSA's position statements. Interested parties must be aligned with NCSA's board-approved positions.
National Leadership
Support NCSA's work nationwide.
- Board Member. Attend a two-hour virtual board meeting each quarter. We are especially interested in board members who would also be willing to serve on an NCSA board committee, roughly one to three additional hours per quarter. Interviews are conducted by the board president.
- Communications Coordinator. Support NCSA's media relations. Experience with Meltwater or similar media-monitoring software preferred, not required. Interviews are conducted by the executive director.
- Development Coordinator. Support NCSA's fundraising strategy, donor relations, and grant pipelines. Interviews are conducted by the executive director.
National applicants will be asked to email a CV after submitting.
State Leadership
Serve the families in your state.
- State Chair. Lead your state chapter. State chairs attend a 90-minute virtual meeting on the first Monday of each month and a quarterly policy committee meeting. Chairs are also encouraged to host a monthly virtual meeting for members in their state. Plan on ten hours a month or less. Interviews are conducted by NCSA's Legal & Policy Fellow.
- State Leadership Roles. Chapters build their teams around what the state needs, with roles to suit a wide range of strengths and interests: public-facing roles such as vice chair, legislative director, or community outreach director, and support roles such as advisory board member or technical director. If you bring a skill a chapter has not thought to ask for, tell us. Most chapters will create a role around it. Interviews are conducted by your state chair.
